The son of Lawman has been disappointing since his promising debut at Doncaster last Autumn but he has benefitted from a recent gelding operation.

Yagheer broke well from the stalls and raced freely in front on the inside. Jack upped the tempo entering the straight and his mount responded gamely to pressure.

The runner-up Inkerman put up a persistant challenge but Yagheer was always holding him and went on to win by a length and a quarter.

Roger said: "Yagheer has been fustrating as he has always worked nicely at home. He has acted well on the surface and It's great to get his head in front."
