Flying form continued for DUSKY LORD, who justified favouritism today, landing the spoils in the Play At betuk.com Novice Stakes at Newcastle in an impressive fashion.

Two consecutive victories for Gerald Moss’ DUSKY LORD, who was off the mark over six furlongs at Brighton on his previous start, today he faced a tougher challenge shouldering a penalty. Partnered with the in-form Jack Mitchell, who was crowned champion jockey in the William Hill Racing League UK yesterday, there was no better pilot suited to the task at hand. Breaking from stall six Dusky Lord took a keen hold but Mitchell proceeded to settle the 3YO towards the rear off the field. Moving down in trip Dusky Lord needed some firm driving, but when ridden under hand and heels he responded well, striking the front by a narrow margin one furlong out. Pressure mounted as Dusky Lords half-brother Twilight Secret, both sired by Twilight Son, challenged in the closing stages. The half-brothers were evidently well matched as a thrilling duel unravelled in the closing stages. Dusky Lord prevailed and hit the line in front by a neck, Twilight Secret claiming Runner-Up with Tantastic from the Brian Ellison yard in third.

Congratulations to winning owner Gerald Moss and connections, and to Jack Mitchell for continuing his legendary form. Dusky Lord has shown consistent form on the track so far in his 3YO campaign, proving himself a progressive type. Let’s hope Dusky Lords can continue this upward trajectory and his winning streak continues throughout the season.
