After a very creditable third on debut earlier in the month, Wezzeer was able to improve from that performance to win his Novice at Southwell

Always prominent under jockey Ray Dawson, the three-year-old Sioux Nation colt got the perfect spin on the inside rail. Coming into the home straight the track opened up and left him with ample space to produce a late surge in the final furlong to fend of two challengers by half a length.
