Sheikh Hamdan's son of Street Cry showed promise in maidens last year and made his handicap debut off a mark of 66.
He raced a little keenly in the early stages but was soon settled in the middle of the pack by Paul Hanagan.
Paul switched him to the centre of the track to make his run and he picked up well to hit the front with a furlong to run.
The Mark Johnton-trained Fennell Bay finished strongly up the rail but Watheeq was always holding him and went on to land the spoils by a neck.
Roger said: "We gelded him over the winter and he has been well suited by the fast ground and a step up to a mile and a quarter."
Watheeq before a gallop this spring.
