Sent off the 5/2 second favourite, he was given a straightforward ride by Andrea Atzeni, who always had his mount towards the head of affairs.

He was in the perfect position to strike and kicked for home on rounding the final bend. 

Wandworth soon opened up a healthy lead and stretched clear to win by seven lengths.

Roger said: "Wandsworth is a good mover and he has improved for the switch to all-weather having struggled in soft ground this autumn.
