The son of Three Valleys did not look in love with the surface but still came through to win under Dominic Fox.

He was ridden along in the early stages to establish a position towards the head of the pack. Dominic went the shortest route around the inside and made his challenge with two furlongs to run.

He had to work to pass the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Position but emerged victorious by half a length.

Roger said: "He is related to horses which went well on the fibersand and he has got the job done. He is still improving and hopefully his owners can have some fun with him."

Earlier in the day Oojooba put up a career best performance to be second in a Listed race at Salisbury. She is out of Ameerat, who won the 1000 Guineas for the yard in 2001, and this black type makes her extremeley valuable as a broodmare prospect for her owner, Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.
