Tattersalls Book 1 in the 1st week of October is usually when the Newmarket stables welcome a host of exciting new recruits to their ranks. Roger Varian however has struck early and while the addition is human as opposed to equine it is however no less an exciting acquisition for the stable. Kate Grimwade has joined the team as General Manager, with the new role overseeing all equine aspects of the stable.

Kate has an expansive CV in the Thoroughbred industry. A graduate of Sheikh Mohammed’s very first Flying Start program Kate went on to complete eight years as lead trainer of Darley pre-training in Newmarket. This role was bookended by two stints in Australia, firstly as racing manager to Gai Waterhouse and then most recently as assistant trainer to Godolphin Australia.

Roger says “I am delighted to welcome Kate Grimwade to the team in the position of General Manager. Kate brings a wealth of experience and I am sure she will make a valuable contribution to the future success of the stable.”
