The daughter of Tamayuz had shown promise in two runs as a juvenile and was sent off the odds on favourite for her three-year-old bow.

Jockey Andrea Atzeni set a sedate pace up front and Thurayaat relaxed into a good rhythm. He quickened up rounding the final bend and looked to have the race in safe keeping.

Thurayaat had other ideas and hung violently towards the stand's side. Andrea did well to straighten her out and thankfully she still had plenty of momentum. Once straight again she ran on strongly to win well by a length and a half.

In the meantime there was another nasty incident when Heavenly River clipped heels with Puppet Theatre at the rear of the field with the former taking a nasty fall. Thankfully both horse and rider were fine.

Roger said: "Thurayaat was out in front a long time and is still green. She is quite a nice filly and we shall probably wait for a turf handicap now."

Thurayaat is a half-sister to Tajheez, who won three times for the stable and owner Sheikh Hamdan last season. Their dam, Ghaidaa is a Stakes-placed half-sister to Oaks winner Eswarah.
