Five-furlong juvenile Maiden winners in August would not be typical of modus operandi here at Carlburg so it was a slightly different experience watching Mitbaahy scoot away with his race at Thirsk yesterday afternoon!

Having twice travelled extremely well in six-furlong Novice races at Newbury and Haydock it was apparent that the drop to the unexplored waters of the minimum trip was going to be of benefit to Mitbaahy, but he produced an even better performance than expected in comprehensively outpointing a 75-rated rival having again gone through his race very comfortably under David Egan.

The injection of speed from promising-looking first season sire Profitable has seemingly made Mitbaahy an even more natural speedball than his 6f G3-winning half-sister Going Global, as she has also bagged a couple of fast ground 9f G3s Stateside in 2021.

Congratulations to Mitbaahy’s owner Hasan Mefarah Alajmi and Fawzi Nass, and we can look forward to making plans for this colt once the handicapper has had his say.
