ASJAD made an impressive start to life with a debut success in the Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Maiden Stakes at Salisbury this evening.

Breaking well from stall 10 ASJAD showed an element of greenness as he took a keen hold in the initial strides. Guided by the expert hands of Dane O’Neil, who did well to settle Asjad in the midfield and ensured they remained on the pace of the leaders. Running on well on the outside, Asjad made his move, opening up and travelling strongly into contention inside the 2F marker. O’Neil pressed and the 3YO showed a smart turn of foot, quickening up and pulling away powerfully to take the lead by four to five lengths in the closing stages. Asjad cruised to the line convincingly, putting the race to bed comfortably with the second placed Micks Dream 2 ½ L behind, having displayed a notable attempted to stay on but to no avail.

A thrilling result for the Shadwell team and congratulations to all involved. It was certainly a striking performance for his debut on the track, and there is no doubt he is a promising type for the future.
