The son of Montjeu, owned by Nurlan Bizakov, has won six times for us and has a terrific record on the all-weather where he has won threeof his four starts.

He has been training well since his below-par run in the Chester Cup and Roger is hopeful that he can be very competitive in tomorrow’s £150,000 showpiece.

Roger said: “I am very happy with Steve Rogers. He has been working well and looks in great shape. He has a good record on the all-weather and is well drawn in four. He should run very well.”

Tonight at Newcastle we have Nezwaah in the Listed Hoppings Stakes. Sheikh Ahmed’s daughter of Dubawi was third in the Fillies’ Trial at Newbury last time out and goes there in good form.

Roger added: “Nezwaah has been working nicely and I am very happy with her condition. She has won twice on the all-weather in the past and ought to be very competitive tonight.”
