The son of Shirocco got off the mark in a 1m2f maiden at Lingfield under a strong ride by Jamie Spencer.

He was slow away from the stalls but Spencer was keen to adopt a handy position and pushed him up to sit second behind Dubai Story.

The leader fell away with over two furlongs to run, leaving Sporting Gold in front.

He was challenged by Delightful Sleep around the final bend but he repelled that rival with a furlong to run.

He was then forced to battle again to repel the late rattle of Grand Theft Equine which he did, passing the post  a length to the good.

Roger said: "It is good to get a win with his as he was unlucky at Kempton last time out. He probably will be seen to better effect on a more galloping track and hopefully he can build on this."
