Shadwell’s MOSHAAWER gets his head in front to land the spoils in the Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Kempton and in doing so sheds his maiden tag at only the second time of asking.

A steadily run race that could be described as a crawl for MOSHAAWER’s seasonal debut back on the track since his last run 229 days ago in October. Moshaawer was slow into stride having broken from stall 5, giving the rest of the field a head start and leaving a lot for Jim Crowley to do. Fortunately, there was no gallop on early, enabling Jim to navigate his way along the outside to sit prominently in second behind the long-time leader Tipsy Laird. The son of Frankel is bred to relish these longer trips and he proved good enough on the day as turning into the home straight he faced a challenge from the big outsider Tipsy Laird. The pair battled it out in the closing stages, but Moshaawer got up to land the odds narrowly getting his grey head across the line first by a neck.

Congratulations to Shawell Estate Co. and to Jim Crowley for a professional ride in an unusually run race. This well-bred Frankel colt will certainly improve from the run and we look forward to his next appearance as he progresses to handicap company.
