It has been a Good Friday in every sense of the word, as Shadwell’s Khuzaam puts in a sharp performance in the Bombardier mile on All-Weather Championships finals day.

Khuzaam continued his winning form from Chelmsford last month, showing a display of class this evening, having stepped up in distance to 1 mile. Having broken well from stall 2, Khuzaam raced a touch keenly in the early stages before settling comfortably behind the early leader, Canagat. The Kittens’ Joy gelding travelled well up to the final bend, where the in-form Jack Mitchell had him perfectly poised on the outside in second position.

As the field headed into the home straight Jack gave a bit of rein and asked for more, at which point Khuzaam galloped away into a five or six length clear lead. Mums Tipple and Intuitive tried to stay on and bridge the gap but could not match the turn of foot and acceleration of Khuzaam, who ran on well to maintain his five-length advantage in what was quoted ‘the performance of the day’ at Lingfield.

Congratulations to the Shadwell team, this horse is definitely an exciting prospect and one to watch this season.
