Sardinia Sunset deserved to get off the mark on her third start having run well twice in smart company and to do so in Listed company at York was very satisfactory.

She showed blistering speed on her debut in a 5f fillies' maiden at Newmarket where she only found the subsequent G2 Queen Mary Stakes runner up Sacred too good. She was quick out of the blocks once again in the G2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot where she stayed on well to finish fourth.

So this time it was pleasing to see her take a lead before finishing her racing strongly to record a length success over Furlong Factor and Country Carnival, who were both impressive winners on their previous starts.

Sardinia Sunset has class and speed, she has proven she can settle and she isn't without scope, so hopefully this daughter of Gutaifan can build on this success as the season continues.
