SADDADD stays on strongly to win the London Gold Cup and MY CLOUD gets up late to make it a double on the day at Newbury for Varian Stable and Silvestre de Sousa.
SADDADD was last seen runner up over C&D in April but he wasn't to settle for silver accolades today. The son of Pinatubo ran on strongly to reel in Lightning Mann in the closing stages, to claim the 1m2f Heritage Handicap contest by a neck.
Roger said: “I think he will keep improving and has done nothing wrong in his three starts. We were a touch worried about the ground but we thought he would come here and run well. I think he will appreciate a bit of give when it does come.
“I would say we would stick at 10 furlongs for now and I think when you see this horse on a good, or good to soft track you will see a stronger performance. That was a good performance today but I think there’s more to come and he’s an exciting horse for the summer.
“This race has a great history of producing Pattern performers and he carried a lot of weight and gave the second a lot of weight in perhaps not his ideal conditions, so I think we can expect the horse to improve and hopefully give us some nice days.
“We’ll see how he comes out of the race, but he might deserve a crack at something like the Hampton Court.”
Congratulations to Sheikh Ahmed al Maktoum.

Later on the card it was the turn of MY CLOUD, last seen winning with a dominant display at Ascot. We were delighted to see him continue that winning streak today with another fine victory, staying on strongly under Silvestre de Sousa to win the 1m contest by a head.
Roger said: "He did well to win and it’s not easy making up ground off a steady gallop and he’s still learning as it is only his fifth race.
“He’ll get an entry for the Royal Hunt Cup and that is the obvious race for him, he’s a lovely horse who will suit the stiff mile. It wasn’t much of a race he won there the other week but he won well and he will suit the setup of a Hunt Cup I think.”
Congratulations to KHK Racing.
MY CLOUD remains unbeaten this season as he gets up to win nicely @NewburyRacing under @SilvDSousa for @varianstable 🥇
