Rock Montreal emerged as a live Classic contender when returning to winning ways in the Emirates Autumn Stakes at Newmarket this afternoon.

Having raced wide throughout under William Buick, Rock Montreal quickened up well to move into contention inside the final furlong before showing a resilient attitude to see off Sergei Diaghilev. The son of Blue Point, who is closely related to the Group 2 winner San Donato, is now two from three in his career having created a smart impression on his debut at Yarmouth prior to going down narrowly in Listed company at Doncaster.

Congratulations to Godolphin and regular rider / groom Kieran Braem.
