The son of Shamardal was a Haydock maiden winner last time out and made a winning handicap debut off a mark of 86.

He was ridden patiently by Graham Lee, who settled his mount towards the rear before showing a good turn of foot to storm into the lead with over a furlong to run.

He idled a little in front but had enough up his sleeve to hold off Dutch Law by a neck.

Roger said: "He has done it nicely and is an improving three-year-old. He has a good turn of foot and acts on fast ground."
