The son of Rip Van Winkle landed the 1m4f handicap under a confident ride by Jack Mitchell.

Jack was drawn widest of all and soon settled Recognition at the rear of the field. The pace was a decent one and Recognition relaxed into a good rhythm.

He picked up well on rounding the final bend, surging past the leader Judicial Enquiry before powering clear to win by a length and a half.

Roger said: "Recognition is going the right way. He stays well and looks as though the 1m6f will be within his compass."
