Alan Spence's colt was given a well-timed ride by Jack Mitchell who delivered him mount to win by half a length.

He settled into a good rhythm on the inisde in the midfield. The pace was an even one and Recognition travelled well throughout.

The leaders kicked some way from home but Recognition had made up good ground and went in pursuit on rounding the final bend.

He took over the running at the furlong marker and held off the late challenge of Frivolous Prince.

Roger said: "We gave Recognition a break at the end of last season and the step up in trip has really helped him. It wasn't a very good race but it's great to get his head in front."
