Best Kept was purchased on behalf of owner Michael Hill at Tattersalls last October. This was his first start of the season and it was pleasing to see him take this mile handicap, albeit by a narrow margin.

He travelled strongly in behind under Andrea Atzeni and cruised into the lead with over a furlong to run. He idled once in front but Andrea kept him up to his work and he held on by a short head.

Later in the afternoon, Steve Rogers completed his three-timer when taking a 1m6f handicap under Freddie Tylicki. Nurlan Bizakov's gelding had a short break after his last win on the all-weather and has improved again to gain this first win on turf.

Roger said: "Best Kept has done well to win as he was probably in front soon enough. It was his first start for us and we are still learning about him. Hopefully there is more to come from him.

"Steve Rogers has done nothing but improve since he stepped up in trip. He should stay two miles and is a progressive stayer."

Steve Rogers - completed a three-timer!
