MY CLOUD continues his unbeaten run this season, with a thrilling victory in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.
My Cloud opened his 2025 campaign with a win over C&D back in April and was subsequently successful at Newbury's Lockinge Meeting. He was sent off as favourite for this afternoon's 1m Heritage Handicap contest but duly delivered, with a terrific performance under the ride of Silvestre de Sousa.
The 30-runner strong field split into three groups with My Cloud travelling strongly within the nearside group. As they neared the final furlongs, My Cloud swept to the front of his group and a thrilling finish ensued with William Haggas' Bullet Point in contention from the far side group. But it was My Cloud's day, as he passed the post ¾L in front.
Roger said: “We have had to be patient with My Cloud, because he had a few niggles as a young horse, so we couldn’t get as busy on a racecourse as we’d like aged two and three. He only really got racing at the end of last year, but he has done well this year and it’s a great team effort at home. There are a lot of people to thank regarding this horse, the main person is the owner, His Highness Shaikh Khalid, who has been most patient.
“We have to hope he will keep progressing. I thought that was a mighty performance for an inexperienced horse. We will see how he is when we get him home. We hope he is a horse who could progress out of handicaps and into Group company"
The four-year-old colt is by Blue Point and out of Beach Frolic, making him a half-brother to Champion miler, Palace Pier.
Many congratulations to HH Shaikh Khalid and the whole KHK Racing team.
