The son of Exceed And Excel was dropping down in grade having run with credit when a close fourth in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Sent off the 4/11f, Morawij matched strides with the leader Nation in the early stages before moving into the lead with two furlongs to run.

Neil Callan never had to ask too many questions of Morawij and he stayed on strongly to win by two and a quarter lenghts.

Roger said: "He ran very well at Ascot where I thought he just had his run checked by the winner at a vital stage.

"He came out of it in good form and it is great to make him a stakes winner here. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards."

At Doncaster, Urban Daydream ran a promising race to be fourth on her racecourse debut on unsuitably heavy ground.
