Moraaheq continued on an upward trajectory in comfortably winning his handicap debut over a mile at Chelmsford this evening.

Hamdan Al Maktoum's three-year-old had shaped at Kempton like the extra furlong would really suit and so it proved, always travelling nicely here sat in behind a sound pace set by Henrik and Babajan and responding well to Jack Mitchell's urgings in coming home strongly down the middle of the track.

The race was a decent test of the credentials of the Speightstown colt off his opening mark of 80 and hopefully he will continue to progress, with fast turf almost certainly going to be his preferred surface if he's switched to the grass at any point.

Congratulations to the Shadwell team, who also bred Moraaheq out of the Grade 2-placed dirt sprinter Takrees.
