Montather doubled his tally of wins on Monday at Thirsk where he made light work of his opposition in a mile novice for 3yo+.

This son of Dubawi out of the Listed-placed Lanansaak had made a strong impression on his only outing at two when winning a mile novice at Chelmsford. On his return to action in June this year he was far too enthusiastic through the mile novice at Newmarket, throwing away all chances of winning, but he was still only beaten two lengths.

Although he was still a touch keen in the early stages of the contest at Thirsk, he definitely showed a more professional demeanour, which meant that Jim Crowley was able to save his energy for the business end of the race. It was pleasing to see the way he extended away from the field and he certainly looks a nice prospect for his owner/breeder Mr Hamdan Al Maktoum.
