The son of Paco Boy had been narrowly touched off in competitive handicaps at the July Festival and Glorious Goodwood and deserved this first success of the season.

Maljaa was always to the fore under Jack Mitchell, travelling well in the first-time blinkers. He took over the running with over a furlong to run and held on gamely to win by a neck.

Roger said: "Maljaa has been runnning consistently well and it was good to see him win. He is a useful sprinter."
