After nearly a year off the track LEGEND OF DUBAI came back with a bang, giving the race goers of Ffos Las a spectacle of high octane sport with a thrilling battle down the home straight against Golden Crusader, who put in a strong challenge in the closing stages. Legend of Dubai prevailed to land the spoils in the Weatherby’s Bloodstock Pro Novice Stakes.

It has been a 348 day break since LEGEND OF DUBAI’s last run in September 2020 at Doncaster, where he was close runner up over one mile. Today the move up in trip to 1M 4F seemed to have agreed with the son of Dubawi, whose delayed seasonal debut was won in style under Andrea Atzeni. The hot market favourite justified favouritism travelling well throughout the race, tracking the early leader Golden Crusader in the initial stages. Atzeni pushed Legend of Dubai along down the home straight and he cruised through and struck the front in what looked likely to be an easily won contest. But the race was far from won, as Legend of Dubai faced a strong challenge from Golden Crusader who fought back, staying on well and adding pressure in the closing stages. Legend of Dubai stuck to his task and was well on top at the finish, with Golden Crusader 3/4L behind in second.

Congratulations to winning connections. The leading pair far out classed the rest of the field with the third placed horse, Tendentious, 13 lengths behind in third. Legend Of Dubai put in a determined performance to shed his maiden tag and there is no doubt plenty more to come from this Dubawi colt.
