LANKARAN does enough to score at the second time of asking in the Visit attheraces.com Novice Median Auction Stakes.

Lankaran confirmed the promise of his debut run at Yarmouth only eight days earlier, moving up two placings to get off the mark at Wolverhampton this afternoon. Piloted today by jockey Eoin Walsh, who kept Lankaran keenly on the pace of the leaders as they moved sharply away in the early strides. Having settled in fourth and tracked the front runners for the majority of the course and distance, Walsh made a move at the two-furlong marker. Lankaran extended away to challenge the current leader Just For Yuse from the Archie Watson yard, narrowly getting his grey head in front inside the final furlong. The Kendargent colt was ridden hard under hand and heels in the closing stages, displaying an element of greenness once hitting the front. But Lankaran kept on, despite coming under pressure by Mutawaarid and did enough to prove his favouritism by crossing the line 1L ahead of the Ed Dunlop trained Mutawaarid in second.

Congratulations to winning owners Nurlan Bizakov and the team. We look forward to seeing Lanakran’s next appearance on the track, knowing that he will only have improved once again from the run.
