The son of Cape Cross, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, was having his first run of the season but had good form last season notably when fourth in the King George V Handicap over course and distance.

Andrea Atzeni kept it simple aboard the 5/1 chance and soon adopted an early lead. Andrea was able to dictate matters from the front and judged the fractions to perfection.

He kicked for home with two furlongs to run and kept on strongly to repel Duretto by a length and a quarter.
