A smart return to the track for JARAMILLO after a 90 break since his last run at Ripon in July. Cruising to the line in the DFE Electrical Handicap at Newcastle this afternoon.

Time away and running without cheek pieces appeared to be the winning combination for Teme Valley and partner’s JARAMILLO. The bay gelding piloted by Jack Mitchell, settled towards the rear of the field tracking the leaders in the early strides. Mitchell picked up the pace inside the final two furlongs and, despite a slightly high head carriage, Jaramillo displayed a striking turn of foot to hit the front in the closing stages. Ridden under hand and heels Jaramillo headed for home, travelling powerfully up the home straight and drawing three lengths clear of the rest of the field in the final furlong. Jaramillo was the clear cut winner, finding more than enough to land the prize, he was no match for the remainder of the field with Jedd O’Keeffe trained Italian Breeze closest in contention four and a half lengths behind in second.

Congratulations to winning owners Teme Valley and Partners. Patience paid off as the son of Oasis Dream’s return to the track was proved a successful one this afternoon, as an unexposed All-Weather performer perhaps this could be a surface he fancies going forward.
