The in-form Gavin Ashton proved himself skilled in the saddle once more, this time aboard Craig Bennett’s CHESHIRE PLAIN. Making virtually all to land the Ian Baker “Thrifty At 50 Fillie’s Handicap”.

The 144 day break seemed to agree with CHESHIRE PLAIN, who took a keen hold to take the lead early on the in the running. Gavin Ashton, who has completed back to back victories for Roger, put in another stylish performance, pushing Cheshire Plain on and the filly responded well travelling powerfully out in front and was never seriously threatened over the course and distance. Running on well to put the race easily to bed 2 ¼ lengths ahead of the Marco Botti trained Heavenly Rose.

Congratulations to Craig Bennett and winning connections. The well-bred daughter of Invincible Spirit will no doubt have improved from the run and we look forward to seeing what the filly’s return to the track will look like later in the season.
