FIFTH POSITION looked to appreciate the step back up to 10f at Doncaster on Sunday where he was given a perfectly timed ride by Andrea Atzeni to score comfortably by a length in the Class 2 Handicap (0-100).

His seasonal debut had come over 1m at Newcastle 12 days earlier and, although he ran a nice race, he was caught for a bit of speed and certainly looked to enjoy the way this 10f race unfolded. He was pushed along over 3f out, but found plenty for pressure and you could tell from Andrea's body language that he was confident he was always going to get there.

Fifth Position was mixing it with black type company last season, earning a rating of 100 after finishing third in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood and so he is sure to be given a career high mark now having won this Class 2 Handicap off 99.
