The son of Dubai Destination, who races in the colours of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, has been targetted at the £100,000 contest since his win in the Listed Churchill Stakes over course and distance in November.

He was sent off the 6/4 favourite and jockey Andrea Atzeni kept it simple, tracking the pace set by Ansgar.

The pace was a strong one but Farraaj was always travelling well before Andrea asked him for his effort on turning for home.

He struck the front at the furlong pole and was always doing enough to hold the fast-finishing Robin Hood's Bay by half a length.

Roger said: "Physically he is not straightforward and he is a bit of a character but he tries hard and never runs a bad race.

"This has been his target since his win last November and it is a great to get a big win on the board early on."
