The son of Acclamation, owned by Sheikh Ahmed, had been placed on his two previous racecourse outings and deserved this breakthrough success.

Sent off the 8/11 favourite under Jack Mitchell, Ershaad tracked the pace set by his market rival China Club.

Jack moved up to challenge the lead with two furlongs to run and his mount soon had the better of China Club.

Ershaad was pushed out under hands and heels, winning by a length and three quarters.
