Sheikh Hamdan's son of New Approach was second to Morpheus at Nottingham last June but missed the remainder of the season due to injury.

He has always shown promise and it was great to get him back on a racecourse today.

He raced enthusiastically under Jack Mitchell, tracking the leader The Character.

Jack cruised up with three furlongs on and had no choice but to kick for home. He was idling as the line approached but was always doing enough, winning by half a length.

Roger said: "Elsiniaar has shown ability at home and I like how he won there. He travelled smoothly and could probably have done with a lead for longer.

"Hopefully he comes out of this ok as there should be more to come from him."
