Unbeaten in his previous two starts, Eldar Eldarov carried the weight of favouritism at Royal Ascot for the Group 2 Queen's Vase, and he remained unbeaten in thrilling fashion. Jockey David Egan was content to sit in the chasing pack while Al Qareem took the field along for the testing trip of a mile and six furlongs. Turning for home, the complexion of the race changed as several started to make challenges, including Eldar Eldarov.

Eldar Eldarov came with a strong run down the centre of the track, but Zechariah had the rail and was also staying on well. The pair flashed past the post together, with a photo-finish called. After what seemed hours, Eldar Eldarov was given the verdict by the smallest of noses, much to our delight! The son of Dubawi is a hugely exciting prospect for owners KHK Racing Ltd, and it will be fascinating to see just how good he is for the rest of this season and beyond.

Eldar Eldarov's victory was a first Queen's Vase for Roger, and a tenth Royal Ascot winner for him overall, while David Egan also enjoyed a first success in the race. A huge well done to all involved.
