The son of Exceed And Excel, owned by Alan and Michael Spence, has also won at Newmarket and Nottingham this year and continued his progression with a stylish success.

He raced on the heels of the leaders under Freddie Tylicki in the group that raced up the middle of the track.

Freddie asked his mount for an effort two furlongs out and he showed a smart turn of foot to go three lengths clear. The group on the near side were closing but not quick enough and Double Up held on to win by half a length.

Roger said: "That was very impressive. He has a high cruising speed and can quicken off it. We had this race in mind for him since he won in May so it is always great when a plan comes off.

"He is an improving sprinter and I can see him making his mark in Pattern company later in the year or next year."

Ajadaat gave us a double on the day when winning a mile handicap at Salisbury. The daughter of Shamardal put up a gusty display to win by a length in the hands of William Buick.
