First off the mark was Shadwell Racing’s ZANBAQ who impressed at Kempton with a smart winning debut in the Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes (GBB Race). Followed shortly after by her half sister MOBADRA who scored in style in the Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap.

Oasis Dream added to his succussful sire line today with a double on the day from Zanbaq and Mobadra. Zanbaq's debut run showed plenty of promise, despite a dwelt start and a slightly awkward draw out on the outside. Marco Ghiani, who had picked up the ride, did well to make headway and eventually drop the filly in position along the rail in midfield ahead of the final bend. Leaving it all to the closing stages, Zanbaq made up ground enabling her to put in a strong challenge inside the final furlong, taking up the running when it mattered in the final 110yards. It was a close battle to the line with added pressure from the eventual runner up Washraa from the Owen Burrows yard, but Zanbaq prevailed to land the spoils.

Congratulations to winning owners Shadwell Racing Ltd. The daughter of Oasis Dream remains an exciting prospect after this smart performance, with Marco not even having to go for the whip on her first appearance on the track. We look forward to what the future will hold for this well-bred grey filly after such a promising start.

It was not long before Marco Ghiani found himself in the winner enclosure once more, this time with half sister to Zanbaq, Mobadra, who went one better than her last appearance in September at Newmarket, showing an impressive turn of foot to land the prize. The drop down in trip to 7F suited the Oasis Dream filly as she cruised up the home straight to justify the markets joint favourite label. Running on well to hit the line one and a half lengths ahead of runner up Huddleton Mac.

Congratulations to Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum and connections, and to champion apprentice Marco Ghiani for completing an impressive double on the day for the team.
