Craig Bennett's filly, winner of the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out, was beaten a length and a quarter by an exceptionally fast filly with Queen Mary winner Anthem Alexander back in third. All three fillies dipped under the two-year-old track record.

Cursory Glance's performance is all the more admirable considering she is by Distorted Humor out of a Sadler's Wells mare in Time Control, from the family of top-class middle distance performer Time Charter.

Roger said: "Of course I'm disappointed not to win but I've got to be really pleased with her performance.

"We are really looking forward to stepping her up in trip and I think we shall see a better filly when she goes further. That was a very strong renewal of the Lowther and three top-class fillies finished well clear of the rest."
