CANNY FETTLE gained a first career success with a battling performance in the Watch Racing Free Online At Coral Handicap at Newcastle on Thursday afternoon.

Having his fourth career start and first in a handicap, Canny Fettle had shown promise on his previous outings and battled hard under Jack Mitchell to see off odds-on favourite Roxzoff by three parts of a length. A gelded son of Distorted Humor out of Liffey Dancer, hopefully Canny Fettle can continue to progress in the handicap ranks now he has achieved his first victory.
