With Central Square, Toofi, Alizoom and Atletico all finishing in the runner-up position it was a relief to see Candella land the spoils in a 1m2f handicap at Lingfield under Jack Mitchell.

Jack always had Candella in a handy position and she raced enthusiastically on the heels of the leaders.

As is often the case at Lingfield they kicked off the final bend and for a moment or two Candella was caught flat-footed.

Jack pulled her with two furlongs to go and she responded well under pressure to hit the front at the furlong marker.

She then ran on strongly to win by two lengths.

Roger said: "She is a close relation of Kingston Hill so this win is all important. She has done well from two-three and can hopefully build on this win."
