Experience of his debut in July combined with time off seemed to agree with Boomshalaa, as he put in a smart performance in the Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Novice Stakes.

Breaking well from stall three, Boomshalaa settled in third behind Pusey Street and the well fancied If You Dare, who was alertly away and led the field in the early stages. Jack Mitchell kept Boomshalaa on the pace, chasing the leaders and moving up passed the James Fanshawe trained Isola Rossa into second over three furlongs out. Mitchell asked for more at the two-furlong marker and Boomshalaa showed an impressive turn of foot, lengthening his stride and moving clear of his rivals. Continuing to run on well down the home straight, Boomshalaa cruised to a four-length victory ahead of the runner up If You Dare from the Mark Johnston yard. To produce a win with such dramatic effect ahead of the placed horses (who had already run to a useful level), suggests the drop back in trip to six furlongs is the favoured distance for the Shalaa colt.

Many congratulations to winning connections and to Jack Mitchell who put in a professional performance this afternoon, enabling Boomshalaa to demonstrate a lovely toe through the race. We look forward to seeing what Boomshalaa can go on to do this season.
