Prince Faisal's colt, a son of Lope De Vega, has shown up well in his work at home and was sent off an odds on favourite for his first racecourse outing.

He raced professionally throughout under Andrea Atzeni, who settled him on the heels of the leaders.

Andrea asked his mount for effort approaching the furlong marker and he loomed up to join the pacesetter Heartbreak Hero on the bridle.

He stretched clear entering the closing stages going on to to score comfortably by two and a quarter lengths.

Roger said: "Belardo has been working nicely and that was a lovely debut. We'll see how he comes out of this before deciding on furture targets."
