Sheikh Mohammed Obaid’s gelding was reverting to turf for the first time this season, but the switch in surface proved of no hindrance as he supplemented victories at Chelmsford and Kempton with a two-length success over the penalised Oasis Fantasy.

Barsanti travelled smoothly on the heels of the leaders under Andrea Atzeni before putting the race to bed inside the two-furlong marker, quickening clear and always looking in charge of the closing pack.

Roger said: “Barsanti is on a steep upward curve and he travelled beautifully today. He clearly stays very well and handles fast ground, so we could look at the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at the Royal Meeting, although his new mark will guide us on plans.

“There is no reason why he should not continue to progress and he might stay further as well. I suspect he will be contesting stakes races at some point later in the summer.”
