AQUAMAN justifies favouritism in the EBF Novice Stakes at Catterick this afternoon.

Time away evidently agreed with Aquaman, who did one better today than his previous run in mid-October last year. Having broken well from stall seven, Jack Mitchell settled Aquaman in second behind the aptly named Fast Medicine, both running keenly in the early strides. Aquaman remained hot on the heels of the Peter Chapple trained Fast Medicine, who made all the running until the final Furlong, at which point Mitchell asked for more and Aquaman forged powerfully on to take the lead. Proving no match for his contenders Aquaman continued to run on well, pulling clear in a strong effort in the closing stages to win by 2 ½ L to the second favourite Fast Medicine.

Despite preferring softer ground, Aquaman proved just as effective on the quicker surface. The in-form Jack Mitchell rode a smart race, riding the Kodiac colt under hand and heels, having travelled well over course and distance. Congratulations to winning connections and we look forward to seeing what Aquaman has to show as he progresses into handicap company.
