The son of Dubawi was bouncing back from a slightly disappointing return at Newbury last month where he was unsuited by the very soft ground.

Back on a sound surface, Aljamaaheer showed a tremendous turn of foot to burst through runners inside the final furlong and win by a length and a half under Paul Hanagan.

The winning trainer said: “The quicker ground made all the difference as he just couldn’t quicken out of it at Newbury.

“He showed a good turn of foot and all being well, the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot would be the logical step.”
