AL HUSN digs deep to land G1 glory in the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood!

The four-year-old daughter of Dubawi has just got better and better this season, last seen beating Nashwa in the G3 Hoppings Stakes at Newcastle, and she produced yet another gutsy performance today to land G1 accolades - upsetting market rivals Blue Rose Cen and returning raider Nashwa in the process.

Ryan Moore and Above The Curve set the early pace, with AL HUSN settled in their shadow under the expert guidance of Jim Crowley. Two furlongs from home, as Blue Rose Cen found the door shut along the inside rail, AL HUSN cruised up the outside into contention alongside Above The Curve. Nashwa and Hollie Doyle loomed from the back of the field to launch their challenge, but in true Dubawi fashion AL HUSN dug deep to prevail by half a length to Above The Curve, with Nashwa finishing in third.

AL HUSN secures a 22nd G1 for Roger, and a first for the stable this 2023 season.

Roger Varian said "She's a remarkable filly... The truth is none of us truly knew how good she was because she is one of those that just beats what's in front of her and is never particularly flashy. But she has got such an admirable attitude - she is tough. So, we thought we'd come here and run very well. But obviously we are delighted, and delighted that Sheikha Hissa is here as well - to have a homebred G1 winner for them, it's fantastic."

Congratulations to Sheikha Hissa and the Shadwell Stud team.

Shortly after, it was MISSION TO MOON's turn to shine, as he soared home under David Egan to make it a quick fire Glorious Goodwood double for the yard. The U S Navy flag juvenile was a €160,000 Goffs Orby purchase from Tally Ho for King Power Racing and has hit the mark on his last two starts, coming second at Epsom and Kempton. He shed is maiden tag today at the fourth time of asking, and he looks a bright prospect for the future.

Congratulations to connections.
