Our winners tally for the 2019 season rose to 75 on Wednesday thanks to an across-the-card treble at Salisbury and Kempton Park.

Stable jockey Jack Mitchell partnered all three winners, the first of which was the Highclere-owned Dark Angel colt, Ascension, who also picked up a £10,000 bonus and the £25,000 Book 1 Bonus, which brought the £4,852 prize fund up to £39,852. Not bad for winning a novice race! Ascension was making his second appearance on the racecourse having debuted over 7f at Newbury four weeks ago. He showed plenty of pace that day and he made good use of this natural ability when travelling strongly in behind the leader who gave him a lovely toe into the race. Once Jack got busy in the saddle, the gap appeared and Ascension kicked into top gear to storm into the lead and put the race to bed within a matter of strides. He looks an exciting prospect for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.

Jack Mitchell hot-footed it to Kempton after Salisbury to partner our two runners there which both went on to win, although the winning distances were slightly different! Farzeen who won a novice at Redcar last time was having her third start and even though she raced keenly at the head of affairs, she trounced her rivals to post a 6 length victory. An hour later Jaleel produced an amazing late run to get his head in front right on the line having been stone last entering the straight. Jack Mitchell was grateful for a fast early pace because it set the race up nicely for Jaleel who was recording his second victory of the season.
