Friday’s results looked hard to follow with a treble in hand, but the action on the track today continued in fine form, with a double on the day from SUPER CUB at Ripon and MOBADRA at Haydock.

Merry Fox Stud’s SUPER CUB produced an improved performance today, going one better than his previous second placed run at Brighton over good to firm back in May. The going was good today and, partnered with Gavin Ashton, Super Cub appeared to get more traction in the stalls, breaking nicely and running on well to settle in behind the leaders. The field were tightly packed for the majority of the course and distance, as they neared the final two furlongs Ashton switched Super Cub right to the outside and made headway moving into a more prominent position from five deep. Staying on well in the closing stages, Super Cub landed the spoils, a first at the third attempt, and it was to be a victory in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.

Congratulations to Merry Fox Stud, the son of Invincible Spirit showed he clearly likes the solid fractions. He looks a progressive type that is likely to improve over a further trip.

MOBADRA followed suit at Haydock to complete the double on the day. A seasonal debut for the 3YO filly it was certainly a return to the track to remember, her last appearance being December 2020 where she showed promise in a second placing. Today she landed the 100% Racing TV Profits Back To Racing Fillies' Novice Stakes in an impressive fashion under the in-form Jack Mitchell who rode an intelligent race, giving Mobadra every chance. Travelling well through the race, Mobadra made her move in the closing stages. Showing she had more than enough left in the tank, she cruised passed the likes of the favourite Gal Wonder who, under Frankie Dettori from the John and Thady Gosden yard, proved no match for the daughter of Oasis Dream.

The 208 day break seemed to have agreed with the daughter of Oasis Dream, who has more than proved herself a promising type with this pleasing performance on her return to action. Congratulations to winning connections, we look forward to seeing what more Mobadra can go onto do with her 3YO season.

It was a lifting end to the week with some exciting prospects putting in powerful performances on the track. We hope the 'rub of the green' continues as we head towards major meetings this month.
