Two smart victories from the team today, first on the board was Varian Racing syndicate’s IMPERIAL YELLOW, followed by a second consecutive win by BOOMSHALAA, which completed the double and a 100% strike rate for Roger.

New Bay colt IMPERIAL YELLOW has progressed with every start, and he did not disappoint on his seasonal debut at Leicester this afternoon, putting in an impressive performance to land the spoils in the Welcomm Communications Handicap. Breaking from stall 7, Imperial Yellow showed an element of freshness taking a keen hold in the early strides, likely down to his 317-day break. Ridden well by David Egan, who expertly slotted Imperial Yellow in behind the pace setter Uncle Jumbo. In the closing stages Egan asked for more and Imperial Yellow picked up sharply, coming through to take the lead. Continuing on to battle it out with the Henry Candy trained Twilight Calls inside the final furlong. Imperial Yellow displayed the best turn of foot, conceding race fitness of his three rivals to score 1 ¼ L ahead of Twilight Calls in second.

Imperial Yellow demonstrated a powerful turn of foot, responding well to pressure when it counted. Congratulations to the members of the Varian Racing syndicate. This New Bay colt has now taken his strike rate to 50% of his runs and remains a promising type for the team.

Following not long after was BOOMSHALAA, who after a slightly unfortunate detour down to post without his jockey during his previous start, returned to Windsor with a winning mentality and made his mark convincingly over the 6F course and distance. Despite a dwelt start and being a touch slow to stride, Andrea Atzeni pushed the Shalaa colt along, making headway on the outside from 2F out. Moving away powerfully in the closing stages and staying on in a tightly run duel with his main market rival Arousing from the William Haggas yard. Boomshalaa justified favouritism and denied Tom Marquand and Arousing by 3/4L.

Congratulations to winning connections. This son of Shalaa looks another smart sort and we hope he continues his winning form set at Kempton and Windsor today.

A successful day for the yard with an 100% strike rate across the board. An exciting start to the week as we look towards some notable classics with three runners in the Oaks and Third Realm in the Derby this weekend.
